Located in Header House, a small, stone heritage building in Major's Hill Park, at the foot of the Alexandra Bridge across from The National Gallery in Ottawa ON. Close to the Byward Market and Parliament Hill.

I am very excited to be exhibiting my etchings and monoprints from the series Clothes for my poems as a guest artist at BLINK Gallery in August! This gallery is run by the BLINK cooperative, a non-profit artist collective aimed at developing an understanding and appreciation of contemporary Canadian art.

Thursday: 6 - 9 pm
Friday: 1 - 6 pm
Saturday and Sunday: noon - 5 pm

10th International Art Miniature Biennial / 10ième Biennale internationale d'art miniature

This juried art biennial shows over 500 miniature artworks by artists from 35 countries.

Cancer Connections in Ottawa!

Major's Hill Park
MacKenzie Ave (close to the Chateau Laurier hotel), Ottawa ON

Opening: Tuesday, June 1, 12 noon
Exhibition dates: June 1-10, 2010

Cancer Connections is an outdoor photographic exhibition about people living with cancer, organized by Photosensitive and the Canadian Cancer Society. The first exhibition opened in May 2008 in Toronto and the show has since visited all provincial capitals in Canada, while continuing to grow in the mean time. The grand finale of the tour is now coming to Ottawa.

PROOF Studio Gallery hosted the 9th International Print Exhibition and Exchange – an opportunity for printmakers from all over the world to connect with eachother by exhibiting their print interpretation of the zodiac sign of the Chinese New Year.

This year they had over 100 prints from across Canada and the United States as well as China, Hong Kong, Romania, Australia, Switzerland, Ireland, and Britain.

Rozemarijn Oudejans' etchings and monoprints reflect a struggle with depression through personal experience, hoping to encourage others to react more positively towards mental illness. Batya Cavens' works feature raw paintings inspired by street art and society, challenging her as an artist to illustrate her experiences.

The past year, Hans Blokpoel and Rozemarijn Oudejans have spent searching for reflections in and around Ottawa. Hans photographed during the day, Rozemarijn took her camera on tripod after sunset. This exhibition/fundraiser supports the OSA and its members by featuring a wide range of unique and affordable works of art, perfect for collecting or gift-giving. This event provides an opportunity to see the variety of techniques and styles of work that are continually being generated by the Ottawa School of Art community.

 

 

 

 

 

Naked in the Capital

November 4 - 29, 2009

Based on Dan Couto's 'Naked in the House' series on City TV in Toronto, a similar event has been developed in Ottawa. For 'Naked in the Capital' 10 photographers, each with one camera, one lens, no artificial lighting, in a previously unknown location, had 30 minutes to shoot one model. The shoot took place on August 29 and A-Channel and the Ottawa Citizen were there to cover it. All 10 photographers submitted 3 images from their shoot for exhibition at Arts & Architecture Gallery.

All proceeds of sales will go to the Snowsuit Fund.

Contemporary photo-based artists explore the portrait as representation in this celebratory group exhibition as part of the Festival Karsh, a city-wide celebration marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Canada's most famous photographer, Yousuf Karsh.

LIKENESS is a stop on the Karsh Trail, a self-directed walking tour of sites and displays in downtown Ottawa related to Yousuf Karsh.

Cancer Connections

This outdoor photographic exhibition about people living with cancer is organized by Photosensitive and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Cancer Connections opened in May 2008 in Toronto and the show then visited Charlottetown (PEI) and Montreal (QC). The exhibition continues to grow and will travel to Regina (SK), Winnipeg (MB), St. John (NB), Halifax (NS) and Saint John's (NFL) in 2009 and to Vancouver (BC) in April 2010. The tour will end with a grand finale exhibition in Ottawa in 2010.
