Rozemarijn Oudejans is a graphic artist and photographer, living and working in Ottawa, Canada.Being born and raised in The Netherlands, a lot of Rozemarijn's artwork is inspired by her Dutch roots and the place where she grew up, on the shores of the North Sea. Equally important are her new Canadian surroundings in Ottawa. Both her ‘Dutch touch' and her ‘Canadian context' are strongly reflected in her work. Rozemarijn was educated at the University of Utrecht and the Arnhem Institute of the Arts in The Netherlands, and in Canada at the School of the Photographic Arts Ottawa and the Ottawa School of Art. In 2007 she received the Justine Bromiley Memorial Scholarship at the Ottawa School of Art for her photography and printmaking work. Her works have been exhibited in public and private galleries in Canada and The Netherlands and can be found in private collections internationally. Rozemarijn also works as a graphic designer for a nation wide not-for-profit organisation. Communication is the main goal of Rozemarijn's artwork. She explains thoughts and emotions by visually simplifying and re-arranging the things we see around us. Or by using visual metaphors in explanation of anything abstract. She enjoys surprising people with unexpected views on ordinary, everyday objects. She likes to challenge people's point of view by showing them an interesting new world, ready to be explored... if you dare ! |
